Overlay
Corner Countdown
A number counting down in the corner, held clear of the player.
An overlay sits on top of footage to call something out — a note, a toast, a marker — and leaves again without a cut.

How this one is built
Corner Countdown is built from 2 text layers and 1 shape, using a 20-pixel backdrop blur behind frosted glass rimmed in orange and a shadow 44 pixels deep. Its colours are near-black, orange and white. Type is set in IBM Plex Mono and Inter.
The disc scales up at 0.1s, the count scales up at 0.3s, the unit fades up at 0.5s. The whole run is 10s at 60 frames a second.
It sits along the top to the right of a 16:9 composition, spanning about 8% of the width at 148×148 pixels.
What to do with it
- Make it yoursChange the words, the colours and the timing without breaking the animation that was built for the shape.
- Export it with transparencyWhich format your editor actually reads, and why a black rectangle behind your graphic means the wrong one was chosen.
- Keep it clear of the edgesWhere an overlay can sit without colliding with the player, the end screen or a caption.
- YouTube Overlay MakerBuild an overlay from nothing, with the transparency decided by you rather than inherited.
- What exporting costsOpening this template, changing it and watching it back are free. Getting the finished file out is $5 once for this project, or a plan if you make them often.
